PP’s Crunchbase profile is mostly up-to-date and accurate, with a few head-scratchers.

Some of the top Palo Alto companies in Crunchbase
Middle-out compression play profile

The Crunchbase profile has a few interesting listings.

  1. Co-founder section. Nelson and Russ are listed with co-founder credits. It is not too unheard of for an early participant like Russ to retroactively take co-founder credit. It is surprising that the rest of the crew, and especially Erich, were left off co-founder status.
  2. Investor section. The investor credits present an interesting question regarding Peter Gregory’s investment. The story indicates that the seed check came directly from Peter, rather than via Raviga. The confusion is confounded after Peter’s death. Raviga seems to inherit his shares, rather than passing to Peter’s estate. This seems to be technical error in the story.
  3. Board section. Nelson is listed as a board member as of 2016. At the end of Season 3, Nelson and Erlich’s investment company purchase the Raviga’s shares. The show did not go through the board realignment after this share transfer, but it looks like Nelson i getting a seat at the table. Surprising again that Erlich is not listed as a board member.

A favorite SV quote (too many to list):
